Project: Heating refurbishment

Increasing the energy efficiency of the afterschool

Since its establishment, the main mission of the Association of Roma Minority Representatives and Spokespeople of Nógrád County has been to reduce child poverty through providing assistance to families in need.

The Association’s activities target both children and parents. They offer learning support and leisure time activities to children, in parallel to organising training, employment opportunities and community events for adults. In addition, they distribute regular food donations among those in need and run a charity shop.

The cooperation between the Association and the Foundation started in 2016, when the Association’s core offer was put at risk as the lease for its headquarters (from which its activities are delivered) was not renewed. The Foundation supported towards the acquisition and initial renovation of a new building, which has been the home of the Association ever since.

A few years later, the heating system needed to be fixed due to a re-occurring smoke leakage problem caused by a wood stove and an outdated chimney. The Foundation supported the installation of a new gas boiler and heating system. In addition, the Foundation provided support towards insulating the roof in order to increase the energy efficiency of building.

With these structural developments, the building can continue to serve those in need for many years to come.
