Since 2004, Inner Fire Association has supported disadvantaged communities through informal education, talent and skills development, and cultural initiatives. Its mission is to empower the local community in Komló by creating lasting opportunities for a better future.
Founded by 11 young Roma professionals, Inner Fire Association supports children, young people, and their families in Komló through its Afterschool (Tanoda) programme. It provides non-formal learning opportunities, talent development, and cultural activities that strengthen identity as well as community ties. The Association helps young people transition to the labour market, offers pathways for adults with low educational attainment to improve their prospects. The leader also champion women’s empowerment through initiatives such as a women’s club. Over the years, the Association has implemented numerous EU and national projects in education, employment, and cultural heritage.
Having served the community for more than 20 years, the Association’s dedicated team needs stable backing and room to adapt, in order to best serve its young people. To achieve this, sustainable, flexible funding is essential. By exploring new operational models and seeking independent income, the Association will expand programmes that respond to local needs and the rapidly evolving challenges. These resources will enable fair staff compensation, build capacity beyond tutoring, and support piloting and adapting activities. This stability will also create space for community-based initiatives that meet young people where they are.
With targeted capacity-building support, the Foundation will help the Association to run a Christmas fundraising campaign on social media, strengthening fundraising skills, systems, and confidence. Expert consultation will guide the planning, implementation, and follow-up of the social media campaign. This support will enable the team to create compelling materials, to improve donor access and engagement, as well as ultimately growing the Association’s online community and expanding its base of sustainable support.
